## Overview

Your dot belongs to ChatGPT and works on its own computer in the cloud. You can access it in the ChatGPT desktop app or browser; its cloud work can continue when your computer is turned off. It can assign software tasks to Codex. The app, dot, and Codex therefore serve different roles.

## Key features

### Continue work between conversations

A dot continues working on delegated tasks, can pause, and resume later. A fixed schedule is not required for every follow-up.

### Dedicated cloud computer

A dot has its own cloud computer and browser. Cloud tasks can continue while the personal computer is switched off.

### Delegate tasks

dots can use parallel background agents and start their own Work or Codex tasks. Local tasks require a connected computer.

### Memory and ongoing context

The agent uses relevant ChatGPT context and its own notes on preferences, decisions, and ongoing work. This is not a complete conversation archive.

### Messages and calls

You can talk to the same dot in ChatGPT and in supported Slack and Teams channels. Calls are also documented.

### Control activity and approvals

Activity, individual tasks, and schedules can be controlled. Pausing the main task does not automatically stop all delegated or scheduled tasks.

## Requirements and limits

### Plan and region determine access

Requirement: According to the provider, Pro access is limited to adults outside the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Business Premium and Enterprise are rolling out worldwide; Enterprise requires admin approval.

### Local work requires your computer to be running

Requirement: A personal computer can be connected. It must be online and the ChatGPT app must be running; cloud work can continue independently.

### Cloud browser does not inherit local logins

Limitation: Website logins are handled separately. Some websites block cloud browsers or require additional confirmation.

### Mobile browsers are not supported

Limitation: Set up the dot in the desktop app or a desktop browser. The mobile app requires the corresponding update.

## Example workflows

### Track changes to a plan

- Your input: An approved plan, relevant sources, and notification rules.
- Possible result: A continuously maintained list of decisions and open questions.
- What to check: Limit access and recipients; make important decisions yourself.

### Process feedback for a software project

- Your input: A connected feedback source and a prepared Codex project environment.
- Possible result: A delegated investigation task with a proposed change for review.
- What to check: Review the diff and tests; approve publishing separately.

## Context

Provider features and availability may change. Review results and limit access to what the task requires.

Beta with gradual rollout. Access depends on plan, region, and workspace approval; local work requires an accessible computer.
