AGENT PROFILES

ChatGPT dots

OpenAI · General-purpose agents

Persistent agent in ChatGPT for ongoing tasks. It works on its own cloud computer and is available through the ChatGPT app or browser.

ChatGPT and Codex · Persistent agent in ChatGPT

Product and access

Your dot belongs to ChatGPT and works on its own computer in the cloud. You can access it in the ChatGPT desktop app or browser; its cloud work can continue when your computer is turned off. It can assign software tasks to Codex. The app, dot, and Codex therefore serve different roles.

Core features

8 features from provider sources · sources reviewed on 30 September 2026. Availability and limitations are listed directly below.

  • Continue work between conversations

A dot continues working on delegated tasks, can pause, and resume later. A fixed schedule is not required for every follow-up.

  • Dedicated cloud computer

A dot has its own cloud computer and browser. Cloud tasks can continue while the personal computer is switched off.

  • Delegate tasks

dots can use parallel background agents and start their own Work or Codex tasks. Local tasks require a connected computer.

    Source 3
  • Memory and ongoing context

  • Messages and calls

You can talk to the same dot in ChatGPT and in supported Slack and Teams channels. Calls are also documented.

  • Control activity and approvals

Requirements and limits

‘Still open’ means the reviewed sources do not answer this point clearly.

  • Requirement

    Plan and region determine access

According to the provider, Pro access is limited to adults outside the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Business Premium and Enterprise are rolling out worldwide; Enterprise requires admin approval.

  • Requirement

Local work requires your computer to be running

A personal computer can be connected. It must be online and the ChatGPT app must be running; cloud work can continue independently.

    Source 7
  • Limitation

Cloud browser does not inherit local logins

Website logins are handled separately. Some websites block cloud browsers or require additional confirmation.

  • Limitation

    Mobile browsers are not supported
