OpenHands · Coding agent platform with SDK and Agent Canvas
Product and access
Agent Canvas is the active browser surface for agents and automations. The SDK and Agent Server provide the programmatic foundation. Cloud is the managed service; the former Local GUI is documented as deprecated. Individual repositories have their own licenses.
Provider
The OpenHands privacy policy names All Hands AI as the service provider. The team develops OpenHands as a coding agent platform with open components, an SDK, Agent Canvas and a managed cloud offering.

Core features
7 features from provider sources · checked on 9 October 2026. Availability and limits are listed below.
Code and tools in the SDK
The SDK connects agents with Bash, file editing, browser tools and MCP.
Source 2Control sessions in Agent Canvas
The browser surface combines agent sessions and control over ongoing work.
Source 1Run locally or in a sandbox
Agent Canvas supports host execution and sandbox runtimes through Docker, virtual machines or cloud.
Source 3Start automations with triggers
Schedules, webhooks and integrations can start recurring or event-driven agent work.
Source 3Extend agents through APIs
The Python SDK and Agent Server with REST and WebSocket interfaces support custom applications and tools.
Source 2CLI and other ACP agents
OpenHands provides a terminal interface. Agent Canvas can also run other agents through ACP.
Source 3Cloud integrations
Cloud offerings connect agent workflows with Git providers, Slack and Jira; access depends on the plan.

Requirements and limits
Limitation
Individual Cloud daily limit
Individual Cloud is limited to one user and at most ten conversations per day. Model usage is paid separately or supplied through personal keys.
Source 4Limitation
Host execution has host access
Agents without a sandbox can access the host filesystem. Docker sandboxes isolate agent tools; the interface and automation service run outside that sandbox.
Source 3Limitation
Parallel work requires separate working states
Multiple Docker conversations can use the same workspace directory. Provide separate directories or worktrees for independent changes.

Work on a repository task in Canvas
- Your input
- A repository, a suitable runtime, model access and clear acceptance criteria.
- Possible result
- An agent session with code changes and traceable tool results.
- What to check
- Check runtime boundaries, the diff, commands and actual project behavior.
Automate recurring code reviews
- Your input
- A schedule or webhook, project access and narrowly scoped review instructions.
- Possible result
- Triggered agent runs with reports on the selected codebase.
- What to check
- Check triggers, workspace separation, access permissions and logs.
A repository, a suitable runtime, model access and clear acceptance criteria.
Your possible prompt
Read the project rules. Investigate [error], propose a small change, and run the relevant checks. Show me the diff and any remaining uncertainties.
Getting-started idea based on documented capabilities. Not an executed product test. Adapt the task, data, and permissions.
Setup and pricing
Setup
Choose a local host or cloud access, connect model access and configure the repository and runtime
Prices and included usage
Pricing checked
Local OpenHands and the individual cloud tier have no software or seat fee. Model inference and runtime remain separate costs.
- Local open source
- USD 0 software fee
Local use for one user with your own model access.
Price source - Individual Cloud
- USD 0 seat fee
One user, at most ten conversations per day, BYOK or models at provider cost.
Price source - Enterprise
- Custom pricing
SaaS or deployment in your own VPC, SSO and unlimited concurrent conversations per user.
Price source
- The pricing page partly describes the older local web GUI. Current architecture documentation identifies Agent Canvas as the active surface and separate licenses per repository; no blanket MIT claim is adopted here.
Sources and evidence
Official architecture overview, SDK documentation and current OpenHands repository checked. The general docs entry point was temporarily unhelpful; the targeted architecture and SDK pages were accessible. Agent Canvas is actively documented and the former Local GUI is marked deprecated.
